Luke's 7th Birthday Celebration!!

Our sweet Luke turned 7 and we celebrated in a BIG way!
(I'll try to get his baptism pics loaded soon - they're not on my phone)

This precious kid wanted to have a family weekend in Fort Worth instead of a party this year! (Woohoo!)

He had asked to stay at Mr. Ken's hotel, aka The Embassy Suites downtown, but it was Nascar weekend and everything was booked.  SO we stayed at a new to us hotel - the Omni in Las Colinas.
The kids loved the view...

and the pool...

They were the first ones in this year - it's not heated.

For dinner, we found a nearby hibachi - they love a good fire :)

And we got to see sweet friends - here's Sophie and Reese - I hope they are great friends when they get a little older!

After dinner, we returned to our room to find fresh cookies and cold milk - the kids were stoked!

We surprised them on Saturday with a trip to Six Flags! The first thing Luke wanted to ride was the antique cars, and we were the first ones on them that day.  With no line when we got off the ride, we decided to ride it again!  He loves to drive!

These kids are awesome.

The birthday boy

Sunday, he was baptized at church, then we came home and had a big lunch and presents from the family for his birthday.

He especially liked Rock'Em Sock'Em!

Lukey,
You are more fun than I can say.  You have so much joy that you can't help but share it with others.  You have a heart of gold and make me proud of you daily.  At school, you're doing awesome things.  You have become a great reader, you're great at math, you love PE and recess, and you have really learned what it takes to be a good friend.  Your best buddy is Talon, and you are especially kind to Matt.  You are funny - truly funny - and kids are just naturally drawn to you.  At home, you love playing Star Wars with your brother, and you are great about including your sister when she wants to play a game with a princess.  You are your brother's best friend, and your sister adores you.  You're playing machine-pitch baseball for the first time and you are SO good at it!  You look for me as soon as you cross home plate and I LOVE being there to watch you do something you love.  You are playing catcher for the first time, and you are amazing.  I know you're not supposed to look adorable in your "armor" but I can think that since I'm your mom.  You also look very tough, and older all the time.  You are 4'2 now, just 12 inches from being eye-to-eye with me.  It will be here in no time.  You do things in a big way - when you laugh it's big, when you cry, it's big tears.  When you make a mess (nutella on toast, for instance) it's a really big mess.  I hope that you always feel in a big way - I love that you're never luke-warm about things.  You are more special to me than you will ever know.  I'm absolutely crazy about the kid that you are and the person you are becoming.  I love you to pieces and am so very proud of you.

Love, Mom
