Birthday party ideas

For my 5 year old's birthday party in December, he knew he wanted a Star Wars theme. (He actually knew this by Halloween, which makes buying things much less expensive!) Here he is just before the party in front of the light saber cake.

I made the cake using loaf pans then lining all the loaves up and icing them all together. (Chocolate cake and confetti cake alternating was fun for the kids!)

Wookie Cookies (Chocolate dipped balls of cake)

Light Saber Sticks (Pretzel rods dipped in chocolate and sprinkles)

Yoda Soda (Jones apple soda with a new label - I LOVED these!)

We played pin the light saber on yoda with light sticks that glow and a poster, and then we told the kids the yard had been hit by a meteor shower. So they grabbed their goodie bags (Darth Vader head buckets that I got for next to nothing the day after Halloween) and headed outside to look for their goodies (stuff wrapped in foil with a foam star stuck to it). They had a blast. Especially the birthday boy, who interstingly enough, had never seen the Star Wars movies.

My younger son turned 4 in April and wanted a Kung Fu Panda party. Here's the room decorated for the party - pretty simple - streamers, paper lanterns, fortune cookies laying around everywhere.

I used Chinese take out boxes from Michaels for their goodie bags

I made the cake and icing, and used green tinted candies that you melt to dip the pretzel rods to look like bamboo, then added leaves in a green icing - we were pretty proud of the cake!

I found Chinese poppers that they pulled apart outside because we had no idea what to expect with those!

We made these panda cupcakes for him to take to his Mother's Day out class with mini oreos - I loved how they turned out!

We love throwing fun and inexpensive parties! Hope you enjoyed these! Can't wait to hop to your parties!
