Mini-Vacation

Sometimes you've just got to get away. That was us this week. We decided to take the boys on a mini-vacation to spend 2 nights in Ft Worth, go to Six Flags, see Grandma and Grandpa, check out an art festival, just chill out and have some family time. It was WONDERFUL! There's quite a few pics, but we squeezed a lot of fun into 2 days!

Thursday night we went to the Main Street Art Festival in downtown Ft Worth, a couple of blocks from Mr.Ken's hotel where we were staying. This is a picture of the sweet boys waiting patiently for The Yo-Yo People's show to start.

We watched them do lots of cool yo-yo tricks!...

...which put Luke to sleep. (They really were cool though.)

After the show, the kids got to go up on stage and practice their yo-yo skills!

We got to have a short visit with Mr. Ken and Miss Jami and Baby Sophie - SO CUTE and getting so big!

We didn't get to visit long; a really bad storm came through that cancelled the Art Festival and sent us to the bottom floor of the hotel until it passed. The boys were bummed - they really wanted to go swimming, and Caden is pretty terrified of storms (especially tornados, and there were 2 reported on the news that he overheard.) The hotel staff was great though - they brought us a delicious cream pie...

...playing cards to play with...

...And finally, the storm passed and it was time to go swimming!!! Hooray!

Luke tried to jump from one bed to the other but couldn't quite make it - it was very humorous though!

We went to see Grandma and Grandpa and had fun visiting with them! Grandpa gave the boys a dollar each to spend at Six Flags! They were so excited!

The fun begins!!! The boys were thrilled to be at Six Flags!!
Here's their first ride of the day.

Caden and Daddy on the BIG roller coaster - more on this later...

On the Mini-Mine Train (the biggest coaster Luke could ride)

Playing games, winning prizes! What cool capes!!

Daddy's so strong!

On almost all the rides, Luke turned a pasty white color and looked like he was going to be sick. Then when the ride was over, he wanted to ride it again. They rode the kiddie tea-cups 4 times in a row, and this is on the big tea-cups which they rode 3 times in a row. Mommy only rode once. Thank goodness Daddy could ride all the rides!

Caden on the other hand...

Sweet cuddle time with Daddy

Yum - Cotton Candy! Nice and sticky!

A picture of the Judge Roy Scream roller coaster - I can't believe my baby rode this - TWICE!! He told his Daddy he was trying not to be scared, then he wanted to ride it again!

Our attempt at a family picture in the hot air balloons in Looney-Toon Land

Just to the left of this sign, Batman and The Green Lantern are shaking hands and taking pictures with kids. Luke wanted nothing to do with these weird men playing dress up, but let me take his picture by the sign.

Probably my favorite picture from the day...

Since we didn't leave Six Flags til 9 pm, there weren't many places open for dinner that we felt good about taking the kids, so we went back to the hotel and ordered room service!! What a great end to a fabulous vacation!!

MMMmmmm! PB&J in bed! Two happy boys!

We so enjoyed getting to see you guys (even if it was for a short time and interrupted by a tornado). Glad y'all had a good vacation. I love the pic of Luke jumping on the bed!
